When it comes to modernizing an old building you may have to invest a lot and the money will come back to you slowly in most cases. With certain improvements though you could increase the rental prices for offices, shops and apartments drastically. Alternatively if you are a business with your own building then modernizing it is going to help your image and impress clients, it is a little more difficult to measure the value but it will come in terms of more business and a higher perceived value to what it is you offer.
One big part of modernizing older buildings is installing elevators and potentially also escalators. This may be to replace those already in place or may be adding them for the first time. With elevators you may well want to add express elevators that will get people quickly between floors and increase productivity as well as increasing rental values on upper floors. With escalators these are of course a normal feature of malls but you also may want to consider them for new atrium areas of buildings where boutiques and heavily frequented offices may be as well as meeting and sitting areas that could be a part of your building’s new look.
