Hydraulic elevators are the most sought after ones. What makes these elevators so popular? Hydraulic elevators are considered to be extremely safe and reliable. These elevators are easy to operate and thus, are easily accessible in case of emergencies. Furthermore, the machine room of the lift is placed at the basement as it is installed in the foundation of the building. Thus, the room can easily be reached in case of emergencies.
Electric elevators are considerably popular too. This model utilizes weights to move the cab up and down in between the floors. It does not require a dedicated machine room to operate. It is relatively less complex. However, it is pretty much vulnerable to shaking. If you live in an earthquake prone area, this design is not recommended at all.
A pneumatic lift is another model of elevators. It can only be used to move 1 or 2 persons at a time as it relies on suction for movement.
