A lift consultant is a must for anyone responsible for a building with at least one lift installation in it – the job of these people is to not only provide you with adequate inspections and an overview of the lift’s current situation, but also to advise you on how you can most efficiently optimize the lift’s operation so that you can ensure its longevity and that it can take up an adequate load of people without giving in.
First, keep in mind that a lift consultant shouldn’t be used for general maintenance purposes – though they can give you good tips on what’s running poorly in your lift system, they still don’t have the complete range of skills to fully analyze a lift’s current operational status. What they can do, however, is to give you a good idea of how the lift is going to function throughout its lifetime given its current parameters, and what you can do to improve its operation and get a few more months (or even years) out of the current hardware before having to change for something different. Don’t forget to set up a good payment plan as well!
